Orca Markings

An Orca below the surface of the water shows off his black and white markings for a whale watching tour off Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

While on a whale watching trip off Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, there is nothing more thrilling than seeing the black and white markings of an Orca under the surface of the water. Casually looking down in the water and seeing the unique markings of an Orca slowly preparing to surface is a moment that seems to take forever.

As you look at this picture of the Orca you can distinctively see the white markings of the eye patch and the white underside of the Orca. The striking color pattern of the Orca is made up of well-defined areas of shiny black and white markings that are very well pronounced.

In front of the markings of the white eyepatch you can actually see the eye of this Orca as his rounded nose almost breaks the surface to check out his surroundings. There is also markings behind the dorsal fin that an Orca can be identified by as well as their individual dorsal fins.
